Is Manipulation Worth It?

Relationships are difficult. There is no doubt about that. At the point where you’ve employed manipulation tactics, there has been a clear loss of respect. Long before the manipulation happens, you have made the conscious decision that communication doesn’t work. Ask yourself why manipulation is necessary?

Some of the more popular tactics:

  • Silent treatment
  • Nagging
  • Ignoring
  • Excessive praise
  • Crying
  • Withholding sex
  • Increased sex

Whether you call it manipulation or not, engaging in these behaviors is manipulation. Whether you know it or not, those same tactics will have detrimental effects on him in this relationship or the next. That is the problem with manipulation. No one thinks about what will happen beyond the point they get what they want.

Here is a list of ways that manipulation can affect a man:

  • Give him low self-esteem
  • Destroy trust with you or any other woman
  • Make him want to cheat
  • Make him hard-hearted
  • Throw off his instincts
  • Make him weak
  • Make him stupid
  • Make him behave in a passive/aggressive way
  • Completely break him down
  • Cause him to stop believing in love

Is whatever you want worth the risk?

If you have ever been manipulated, you understand the damage that can be done when you find out what happened. The trust is broken. If you get to where to were before, there will still be an underlying layer of distrust. Just avoid it all together and communicate. Understand that you cannot control anyone except yourself. You may even want to explore why you feel you need to manipulate situations at all. Those feelings are rooted in fear. What are you afraid of?
