You Are What You Eat
We’ve all heard the cliché that you are what you eat. We know it to means that if you eat bad food that bad things will happen within your body. We are also of the assumption that good foods will cause good things to happen to your body.
What happens when you ingest negativity? Have you taken time to assess how your body responds to stress? It took me a while to learn that the negativity of others will rub off on you more quickly than you think.
I’ve learned to stop allowing people to drop their negativity off at my door and leave me trying to figure out how to solve their problems. There were times that I would completely take on the problems of someone else and try my best to solve them. All the while, the person I was working so hard to help no longer had a care in the world.
I’ve also learned that I shouldn’t offer help before I am asked. There are people you know that constantly get themselves in the same situation over and over again like clockwork. You know what the call is about before you answer because this person ONLY calls when there is an issue. Some people have to be allowed to hit rock bottom. It’s difficult and hard to watch, but it’s necessary in order to have peace.
NEWSFLASH – That person knows exactly how to solve their problem – they don’t want to. (S)he just wants you to keep enabling them. STOP IT!!
You don’t have to take on any situation that you didn’t produce. It’s not a problem for you to solve. You have to set boundaries and stand by them, People will test you and try to guilt you into helping them continue their cycle of negativity. Consuming their mess has the potential to make you sick.
I understand that there will be times you will fall back into old habits. You want to help; I get it. As soon as possible, get back to what makes you feel good and be at peace with yourself.
If you need help figuring it out, book a discovery call and we can figure it out.
